Agua has been specifically designed to make the most of the .NET framework and the Windows development platform. It runs as a series of Windows services which makes it ideal for server operations where the service is needed 24/7 without somebody being logged into the computer.
The services comprising Agua are:
- Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) service
- Mail Queue Processor
- Post Office Protocol (POP3) service
- Mail sentry service

While this software has been developed with Windows 2003 in mind there is no reason why it wouldn't run on any Windows version that supports services and v2.0 of the .NET framework (Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista).
